There were musicians such as the revolutionary Corruptible Gal Band featuring Ned Kelly, Pancho Villa and Hi Chi Minh. There were balloons, some tethered so high they seemed to disappear in the clouds.

And there were dozens of posters, variously urging the state government to ''scale back the towers'', developers to ''take your hotel out of our harbour'' and the people of Sydney to ''halt the high-rise bribery''.

Yesterday's rally against the controversial $6 billion plans to develop the harbourside site of Barangaroo had everything.
